Written at the request of horn player David Cooper as a gift to Cliburn winner Vadym Kholodenko,
when his children were killed. This became the second movement of the composer's horn sonata,
which was nearly finished at the time.
The Pavane can be presented by itself as a single piece and is especially suitable for any
solemn occasion (memorial services, funerals, commemorations)
