Description
This is an arrangement of the famous Welsh lullaby.
This work for oboe and piano is not at all a set of variations on a theme, because
the oboe always plays, without embellishment, the same sixteen-measure sequence
four times. The four first measure of the this theme are played once as an intro-
duction. The piano, however, is asked to create a different atmosphere each time
the theme returns, replacing the meaning of the words. It is therefore the job
of the oboist to find a different way of presenting the same theme, sequence by
sequence, which is not entirely the easiest thing to do!
