Description
This is an arrangement of the famous Welsh lullaby. This work for viola and piano is not at all a set of variations on a theme, because the viola always plays, without embellishment, the same sixteen-measuresequence four times. The four first measure of the this theme are played once as anintroduction. The piano, however, is asked to create a different atmosphere eachtime the theme returns, replacing the meaning of the words. It is therefore the jobof the violist to find a different way of presenting the same theme, sequence bysequence, which is not entirely the easiest thing to do!
