Description
Ange Flégier was a French composer and painter who was born on February 25, 1846 at Marseilles and died on Octobre 8, 1927 in Martigues. Flégier is principally known as havng composed the famous song for bass and orchestra “Le Cor”, but he also wronte more than 300 works for piano, (including a concerto), many songs, an opéra-comique “Fatima", the oratorio "Ossian" and many chamber works, including the first “dixtuor” for wind quintet and string quintet. This four-movement quartet is referenced to the type of 18th century French music typical of the "Phlidor" manuscript, a collection of music for double reeds which contains music written for both Court and Military use.
